SAMSKRUTI OF DVG
"DVG's 'Samskruti' is a literary masterpiece, spanning 115 pages that unfold like a treasure trove of wisdom. While my knowledge might not match the depth of the book, the experience it offers surpasses any prior encounters. Describing it as nectar for avid readers wouldn't be an exaggeration. The frequency with which we use the term Samskruti- roughly translatable to word 'culture' often varies, sometimes casually, at other times with significant weight. This book unravels the dimensions and richness behind this seemingly simple word.
The author brilliantly weaves together elements of Indian identity, societal understanding, and cultural nuances in this small yet powerful book. It serves as a fantastic school of knowledge for those seeking to comprehend the intricacies of Indian culture. The book becomes a linguistic and cultural compass, inviting readers to not only use the word but to truly understand its depth, significance, and the myriad dimensions it encapsulates. It is a literary gem that transcends casual usage, offering profound insights into the essence of our cultural heritage.
DVG's mastery lies not only in linguistic finesse but also in his ability to seamlessly weave cultural perspectives. Reading this book is akin to savoring the sweetness of a 'Gulab jamun', each page leaving a lingering taste of cultural enlightenment. The narratives featuring historic and ideal personalities like Shri Rama, Shri Krishna, Hanumantha add a captivating layer, making the book a compelling exploration of virtues and cultural intricacies.
DVG doesn't merely present his opinions; he provides a thought-provoking perspective on the Western notion of oneness, disagreeing with the idea of everything becoming the same in name of oneness. Instead, he offers a profound insight: 'everything becomes one and same even in doomsday, everything is still, rigid and empty.' It's a contemplative stance that challenges a simplistic understanding of oneness.
Amidst his contemplation on oneness, DVG introduces the concept of harmony through a vivid analogy. Drawing upon the scenario of salt, spice and tamarind. he illustrates that while they are distinct in taste completely, that are not opposite, they coalesce seamlessly, creating a perfect combination to make a good Saambaar (Saaru). This analogy serves as a powerful metaphor for DVG's belief in the harmony of diverse elements. He contends that diversity, far from being a source of conflict, is a natural aspect of existence. Bharatiya culture, according to DVG, has discovered the recipe for true harmony — embracing diversity and allowing it to yield a fruitful and unified outcome.
DVG's eloquent articulation of this principle offers a refreshing perspective compared to Western interpretations of oneness found in religious contexts. The distinction between 'oneness' and 'harmony,' as highlighted by DVG, becomes a crucial message for our society, echoing with relevance even seven decades after its writing. DVG's presence among us adds a living dimension to the profound wisdom he shared in 'Samskruti,' making it a timeless beacon of cultural enlightenment.
Hope you all buy this small yet through provoking book and read it.
