Who is DVG?!
DVG, or Devanahalli Venkataramanaiah Gundappa, popularly known as D V Gundappa was a prominent Indian philosopher, poet, and writer, born in 1887. A multifaceted personality, he played a vital role in the literary and cultural renaissance in Karnataka, India also a "Padma Bhushana" winner. His thought-provoking essays, philosophical works, and insightful commentaries have left a lasting impact on Indian intellectual discourse.
Published in 1943, "Mankuthimmana Kagga" is one of the best known of major literary works in Kannada. The title of this work can be translated as "Dull Thimma's Rigmarole". This work is also known as "Bhagavadgita of Kannada"- Facing life's challenges with cheerfulness, understanding everything as a divine play, recognizing our own and others needs, honoring human aspirations and dreams, working for noble causes and above all, dissolving our ego in mature thinking are among the great thoughts that the Kagga offers.
